During my time at the Royal College of Art, I conceived a design featuring a dragon culminating in a self-packaging box within a square container. This creation eventually emerged as a notable exhibit at the Design Center in Haymarket a year later, earning an honorable mention.
The dragon’s visage elegantly coils around the square’s corners, seemingly vanishing into the very confines of the container. I deliberately chose to vividly depict only the dragon’s head using vibrant hues. This deliberate decision heightens the element of surprise upon unpacking.
The initial rendition adopted a comic-style approach, followed by a subsequent version rendered entirely through airbrushing, characterized by a distinctly Japanese influence. The third iteration embraced a clear line style. Despite these stylistic variations, the core concept remained consistent, underscoring the dragon’s transformation within the self-packaging box.
