Allseas

Offshore constructions

Client: Edward Herema
Design: Jelle van der Toorn Vrijthoff

In 1985, Edward Heerema embarked on an independent path. His goal was to establish his own offshore company, driven by visionary ideas that demanded an appealing brand identity. To achieve this, Edward’s wife, Pouline Wolfswinkel, reached out to Total Design, leading me to The Hague for our initial meeting, during which I was introduced to their compelling narrative.

This narrative revolved around the inception of a pioneering company, one destined to lay pipelines on the seabed across the globe. The task at hand was to christen this venture with a name and design a logo. Several weeks later, I proposed the name “Allseas.” I believed it encapsulated brevity, memorability, and directness. This suggestion was approved, and the subsequent unveiling of the logo garnered an enthusiastic response.
A few months later, a novel design for a remote-controlled digging robot intended for seabed operations was conceived, and it was aptly named “Digging Donald.”
Remarkably, the company remains active and continues to thrive on innovation, with its brand identity remaining unchanged to this day.
