In 1986, the Supervisory Board of the accounting firm Moret en Limperg approached Total Design to create a promotional artwork centered around the concept of “cooperation.” This theme inherently offers a broad range of interpretations, encompassing both international collaboration among companies within the organization and interpersonal collaboration among individuals.
I envisioned focusing on depicting an organization in a manner akin to topographical maps. This would involve transitioning from a global world map to a meticulously detailed hiking map, highlighting various levels of analysis. Another intriguing aspect of cartography that captured my interest was how shapes evolve and transform as we shift between different scales.
Thus, the project would explore both the theme of cooperation within organizational structures and the fascinating transformation of forms as we delve deeper into those structures with increasing intricacy.
